PARTNERS FOR SACRED PLACES 2007 ACHIEVEMENTS

2007 has been a busy year of successes and groundbreaking projects.  Partners thanks you for your efforts in making these achievements possible:

* The New Dollars/New Partners for Your Sacred Place program reached a milestone of 300 congregations served across the nation since the program’s inception in 2004

*The New Dollars/New Partners Seminary Project, with guidance from a national advisory committee, has begun testing and evaluating at three seminaries

*The Pennsylvania Office sponsored two events in Philadelphia that engaged the public sector.  A forum about sustaining the civic purpose of sacred places drew together the city’s mayoral candidates in April, and U.S. Senator Arlen Specter led a town hall forum about the public sector’s role in helping community-serving faith-based organizations in October

*The Pennsylvania Office sponsored two New Dollars/New Partners classes to accommodate growing demand for the program, and now hosts monthly workshops for Philadelphia area congregations to complement these trainings

*The Pennsylvania and Texas Offices awarded a total of $420,000 in grants to local congregations

*The Texas Office has graduated its second class of New Dollars/New Partners participants

*The Texas Office debuted the Texas Sacred Places project, a collaborative effort with preservationists, architects, academics, historians, and church leaders to document and promote the state’s religious heritage

Partners expects 2008 to be an exciting year as well, as we progress toward opening a Chicago Office, and plan to officially launch the Seminary Project in four seminaries
