Training

Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire Organizations Preserving Historic Buildings in New England through New Dollars/New Partners!

Partners for Sacred Places is assisting 15 soon-to be selected New England congregations.

This effort marks a first-time collaboration among Preservation Trust of Vermont, New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and Maine Preservation, which are actively recruiting congregations and other partners for this program.  Training begins May 15 in Concord, N.H.

The May 15 training is the first of four New Dollars/New Partners for Your Sacred Place workshops this collaboration is sponsoring in 2007.  The New Dollars/New Partners program combines the best of the resources, techniques, and knowledge developed by Partners since 1989, and is the only one of its kind to focus on community-serving congregations with older and historic properties.  These resources help congregations broaden and diversify the circles of donors and partners who can support the care and good community use of their sacred places.

To be eligible, congregations must have a house of worship more than 50 years old and have capital needs that exceed their finanical resources.  Additionally, congregations must desire to deepen their community connections and use their buildings more effectively.

Attendees at each training course consist of three leaders (senior clergy and lay leaders with responsibility for property, outreach, and finance/fundraising) from each of the 15 participating congregations that want to find new ways to fund and support their older or historic buildings.

If your congregation is eligible, please contact Tuomi Joshua Forrest, Partners' Associate Director.
