Overview of Evaluation Findings (2003-2005)

An evaluation of the effectiveness of New Dollars/New Partners for Your Sacred Place was conducted in 2005 by the TCC Group. 76% of the congregations participating in 2004 New Dollars/New Partners training responded to a written questionnaire and/or telephone interview. TCC was able to conclude that New Dollars/New Partners is making statistically significant progress in meeting nearly every important goal.

Congregations reported significant progress on New Dollars/New Partners' short-term outcomes achievable within a year:

• Improved knowledge of how to make best use of sacred spaces: "Rather than viewing an investment in the sacred place as detracting from the congregation's priorities, the New Dollars/New Partners program shifted the attitude of a group of opinion leaders to see that resources directed toward the building do support the congregation as a whole. We've definitely turned a corner as an institution."
• Improved leadership, vision, and energy: "It has helped us focus on why we are here. What purpose we serve in the community. It has helped us realize who we are and what we want to be."
• Increased motivation of teams to make better use of sacred spaces: "The very idea that the church could be used for others services to the community hadn't occurred to people. But now they are beginning to think about it."
